Almost 90 percent of the population in India prefer to travel by trains and railways. Travelling by train comes with its advantages such as cheap ticket fares, comfortable seats and clean compartments. Apart from taking twice or thrice the time than travelling by road or air, railways are one of the best options to travel both inter-city and intra-city. Majority of the people cannot afford to travel by air everywhere and hence they will have to rely on trains and buses to reach their respective destinations. However, travelling by trains has its perks. The food is most of the times not upto standard and good hygiene. There have been many cases of food poisoning that have been reported after eating the food on trains. They preserve it for many days and serve the same items until they are exhausted before bringing on a fresh batch of foods to eat.
There have been countless complaints by the passengers regarding the food quality and taste of the food in trains. Luckily, from the 15th of June, all the travellers of the Shatabdi and Rajdhani Express will be able to order the fast food of their choice in advance and the best part is that it will be delivered to their seat. The mandatory meals on the trains have become more of an option now and the order can also be placed via SMS, online or phone call. People can also use the app if it exists for that particular fast food joint.
This is definitely an exciting news for all the fast food lovers out there who are fed up with the boring railway food. Indian Railways has tied up and collaborated with some of the most popular and big food chains including McDonald’s, Domino’s, Sagar Ratna, KFC, Pizza Hut, Only Alibaba, Switz Foods, Haldiram, Nirula’s, Bikanerwala, etc. This is an excellent option while travelling by train and will certainly be a hit.
