Recently India played Bangladesh in the semi final of the ICC Champions Trophy and beat them with 10 overs to spare, courtesy of the first three batsmen which included the Indian skipper Virat Kohli who along with Rohit Sharma dominated the opposition by playing some of the most exquisite and sublime shots to seal off the win for India. Both the teams were aware how important the semi-final was because that was their ticket into the finals against Pakistan. India has always had a lot of expectations from the fans and the public and boy, did they deliver!
They outplayed Bangladesh in the semi-finals and are now all set to take on their arch rivals Pakistan in the finals. It was all in all a good game of cricket with India sealing a comprehensive win. However, a few days before the India-Bangladesh game, the social media websites exploded with insulting and derogatory memes towards India, that were made by a Bangladeshi fan. The photo where a tiger wrapped with the Bangladeshi flag was seen chasing a dog with the Indian flag. This picture was seriously an insult to the entire Indian team.
But, the Bangladeshi captain Mashrafe Mortaza finally spoke up regarding these insulting memes and derogatory themes. Mashrafe expressed his unhappiness over such offensive and insulting posts and emphasized on the fact that they don’t create any sort of positive effect on the team’s overall mental psyche. He also said that the team members had no involvement in this whatsoever.
According to Mortaza, India would naturally be under a high amounts of pressure to win in the semi-finals by taking into account the love for cricket in the country as well as the population of India. He further added that his team must think of the semi-final as an ordinary match, as they would naturally be overpressurized if they play the game keeping in mind that it is infact a semi-final.
