Indian cricket has witnessed many milestones in the last couple of years. Recently, Yuvraj Singh played his 300th ODI match in the semi-final against Bangladesh in the ICC Champions Trophy. Playing 300 matches is a huge achievement. The match against Bangladesh was among the most exciting matches for the Indian cricket fans. While it was a very important match for India, it was also special for Yuvraj Singh, for whom it was the 300th ODI match.
Yuvraj had suffered from Lung cancer a couple of years ago and he was in no position to play cricket for the rest of his life. The doctors had advised him to retire immediately. But, as everyone already knows, whether it is on or off the field, Yuvraj is a real fighter and doesn’t believe in ever giving up, whatever the intensity of the situation may be. He won the battle against cancer when he was against all odds. People had given up hope and the doctors had given him maybe a few months to a year latest to survive. But, Yuvi stuck on and won the battle at the end. He is a true survivor and an important asset in Indian cricket. His talent is unmatched and no one can hit the ball as brilliantly and fluently as Yuvraj manages to. His 6 sixes in one over knock against Andrew Flintoff of England will always be remembered for life by every Indian. He is only the second person to hit 6 sixes in an over after Ravi Shastri back in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
Even though Yuvraj Singh couldn’t get the chance to bat on the day of the semi-finals, it was an excellent day of cricket as the target was chased down very easily by Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli. For Yuvraj, the day turned out to be extra special when he met his lookalike after the team won the match. The lookalike was basically sporting an identical beard, the Indian jersey and reflectors.
Yuvraj has millions of fans following and he is one of the most loved cricketers in the world.
